Network & infrastructure

What your server runs on, where it sits and how we look after it.

Locations

We operate in 3 regions. Every region is connected to the same filtering edge, so protection and support work the same wherever your server is.

UK United Kingdom Available
US United States Available

Tell us during ordering if you need a specific region; for custom builds we can also place several machines in the same rack.

Hardware

We use server-grade and, for game servers, high-clock desktop-class hardware from established manufacturers. Each product line is built for one job:

  • Dedicated servers favour memory and core count: 32 to 128 GB of RAM and two disks that you can run as a mirror.
  • Game servers favour clock speed, up to 4.7 GHz, with NVMe for fast world and map loading.
  • Storage servers carry two to six large disks, up to 36 TB raw per machine.
  • VPS and web hosting run on our own dedicated hosts in the same racks.

The exact specification of every plan is listed on its product page and stored with your order, so what you ordered is always on record.

Network

  • 1 Gbit/s ports on dedicated and storage servers, 500 Mbit/s on game servers and 100 Mbit/s on VPS plans.
  • Up to 512 additional IPv4 addresses per dedicated server, from German, British or American ranges.
  • Abuse reports are handled by our own team, which keeps our address space in good standing. See how to report abuse.

Protection

Every server sits behind our self-learning DDoS filter. Attack traffic is identified at the edge and diverted to a separate network before it reaches your port. There is nothing to switch on and no surcharge. Read how the filter works.

Operations

We have our own people in the data centres. Hardware faults are diagnosed and parts are replaced by staff who know our setup. Our systems are monitored continuously, and planned maintenance that may affect your service is announced in advance by email.

For storage systems we keep our own backups in a data centre on another continent, so that a regional incident cannot affect both copies. Unless you have ordered a storage or backup service, you remain responsible for backing up the data on your own servers.
